YMC-Pack SIL
High quality spherical porous silica gel.
The high-purity silica found in YMC-Pack SIL columns provides virtually complete sample recovery. The absence of silica impurities reduces non-specific sample adsorption, and the totally porous nature of the silica provides high sample loading. With some competitive silicas, the level of porosity would make the particles prone to fracture, resulting in fines and high backpressure. However, the elevated chemical purity of YMC silica results in a particle structure exhibiting high mechanical strength.
YMC-Pack SIL is suitable for separation of fat-soluble compounds using non-polar mobile phases, as well as the separation of positional isomers that are difficult to separate in reversed-phase mode. SIL-06 (60Å pore size) has greater adsorption properties than SIL (120Å pore size) due to its larger surface area, and is generally useful for separating natural products with low molecular weight.

Preparative Particle Size
YMC-Pack SIL with particle sizes of 10 µm and higher are available as part of the YMC*Gel High Grade (HG) series. These resins boast improved mechanical stability as well as narrower particle size and pore size distribution. YMC-Pack SIL-HG can be purchased in prepacked analytical and preparative columns or in bulk resin format.
