YMC America will make a donation to St Jude Children’s Hospital for every prepacked column sold.

Classical phase with moderate hydrophobicity.

YMC-Pack C8 columns are prepared using exhaustive bonding of a monomeric octylsilane to totally porous and spherical silica gels. The functionalized silica is then treated with an endcapping process which produces a moderate 10% carbon loading on the standard 120Å pore material.

C8 columns are well-suited for the separation of many compounds which are too strongly retained on C18 phases or require greater retention than C4 phases can provide. Available in three pore sizes, YMC-Pack C8 columns will separate many classes of compounds including pharmaceuticals, organic chemicals, and biologics.

*Tip: For preparative applications, choose the smallest pore size which provides adequate retention and resolution. Sample loading is generally proportional to surface area, so small pore stationary phases provide greater surface area.

Characteristics

  • Useful for separating samples with relatively high hydrophobicity
  • Fully endcapped
  • High coverage monomerically-bonded chemistry

Applications

Typical applications include: proteins, peptides, and estrogens

Preparative Particle Sizes

YMC-Pack C8 with particle sizes of 10 µm and higher are available
as part of the YMC*Gel High Grade (HG) series. These resins boast improved mechanical stability as well as narrower particle size and pore size distribution. YMC-Pack C8-HG can be purchased in
prepacked analytical and preparative columns or in bulk resin format.
