When compared to conventional batch processes, the system delivers enhanced resin capacity utilization, decreased buffer consumption, and increased product concentration.
Simple, elegant, and includes:
- Pump(s) with a hygienic design capable of delivering industry best-in-class precise flow
- Multiple inlet and outlet valves
- Air sensors to protect the columns or prevent dry running conditions
- pH, conductivity, pressure, and temperature probes/sensors
- Coreolis flow meters to control and/or verify pump flow rates
- Dual wavelength UV monitors in the range of 280 and 300 nm
- All necessary tubing, valves, instruments, connections, and safety devices for GMP process requirements
- System automation and control with an easy-to-follow user interface
What is CaptureSMB® Technology?
Unlike batch chromatography, which uses only 50-60% of resin material, the CaptureSMB process fully loads one column and captures product breakthrough on a second interconnected column. This ensures maximum product capture and efficient utilization of all available affinity resin.
The technology offers two-fold faster processing times and up to 50% savings in Protein A resin and buffer.

YMC’s Contichrom TWIN maximizes asset utilization and saves space and cost using pre-packed or conventional columns with the option to have multiple modes of operation on a single skid.

The Contichrom TWIN LPLC system uses industry-leading LEWA ecodos pumps and is enhanced with an exclusive digital pump control technology. This provides wide flow-range accuracy for improved product yield and purity as well as industry-leading precision and batch-to-batch reproducibility.
Designed With Minimal Holdup Volumes
The use of optimal piping, component arrangements, and sizing produces symmetric flow paths between the two columns.
